SEAA and IEA Announce Historic Coming Together at Singapore Estate Agents Conference 2025
Proposed New Industry Body to be Named Singapore Institute of Estate Agents (SIEA), Subject to ROS Approval.
In a milestone announcement made today at the Singapore Estate Agents Conference 2025, the Singapore Estate Agents Association (SEAA) and the Institute of Estate Agents (IEA), Singapore jointly declared their official coming together to form a new, unified real estate agency and agent industry body in Singapore.
The proposed name of the new industry body is the Singapore Institute of Estate Agents (SIEA), and it is currently pending approval from the Registry of Societies (ROS). The new body will represent the interests of more than 15,000 real estate agencies and agents, and serve as the leading voice for the industry in Singapore.
This coming together represents a powerful alignment of shared missions — to advocate for the profession, elevate ethical and practice standards, and support continuous professional development through education and training. Both SEAA and IEA are established industry bodies and course providers and have long played pivotal roles in raising the professionalism of Singapore’s real estate agency landscape.
Mr. Adam Wang, President of SEAA, said “This is a pivotal moment for the industry. We are building something greater than the sum of its parts — a unified platform that empowers our members, strengthens our voice, and enables us to collectively raise the standard and reputation of the real estate agents profession in Singapore. Through this coming together, we are better equipped to respond to change and shape the future with confidence.”
Mr. Peter Koh, President of IEA, added “IEA has been established for more than two decades. This next step — joining forces with SEAA — is a natural progression that allows us to scale our impact, strengthen our support for members, and deliver more holistic value. The proposed SIEA will carry forward our shared vision of a professional, ethical, and future-ready real estate community.”
Speaking at the Singapore Estate Agents Conference 2025, Ms Sun Xueling, Senior Minister of State for National Development & Transport, said “Let me congratulate the coming together of the SEAA and the IEA to form the new SIEA. This is an important milestone for the sector. I look forward to the new industry body representing the interests of property agencies and agents, and working with the Government to advance professionalism, capability development, and long-term industry sustainability.”
The coming together takes place at a time when the real estate industry is undergoing rapid change — from digital transformation and evolving consumer expectations to heightened regulatory focus and rising demand for trusted advisory services. The proposed SIEA will provide a united front to address these challenges, while fostering innovation, collaboration, and sustainable practices within the sector.
A joint working committee from SEAA and IEA has been formed to oversee the transition and integration efforts.
“This partnership is grounded in our common goals and shared responsibilities,” said Mr. Wang. “SEAA has been working closely with the regulatory bodies and stakeholders on industry initiatives that benefit its members. By aligning our efforts with IEA, we are better positioned to meet the current and future needs of our members and the wider industry.”
Mr. Koh added “This is not the conclusion of SEAA and IEA — it is the beginning of a new, stronger chapter. Together, we are committed to building a united, inclusive, and forward-looking Institute.”
The proposed Singapore Institute of Estate Agents (SIEA) aims to be a unified voice for the profession — one that reflects the strength, resilience, and aspirations of all property agencies and agents in Singapore.
About SEAA
The Singapore Estate Agents Association (SEAA) was formed to represent the property agencies and property agents in Singapore and is the leading industry association for the real estate agency industry. With the support from Council for Estate Agencies (CEA) and the major property agencies, SEAA aims to be a cohesively strong voice for property agencies and agents and to advocate and further their common interests.
Driven to promulgate and maintain the high standards of the real estate agency profession, SEAA ensures that the industry remains relevant and sustainable by promoting continuous learning, upgrading, ethical standards and professional
development amongst its 15,000 members. The Association also works closely with the regulatory bodies and stakeholders on industry initiatives that benefit its members.
About IEA
On October 5, 1998, the Institute of Estate Agents (IEA) was formed, uniting the strengths of three prominent bodies: the Association of Singapore Realtors (ASR), the Association of Singapore Real Estate Agents (ASREA), and the Society of Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers Accredited Estate Agents (SOCREA). This strategic amalgamation created a more powerful and cohesive entity.
The IEA Council understood that a strong, unified organization would be instrumental in elevating the standing and interests of its members. This commitment extends to crucial areas such as accreditation, business practices, ethical guidelines, ongoing education, and maintaining high professional standards. Equally vital, the IEA is dedicated to protecting the public, ensuring that when individuals engage with its members, they can expect professionalism, integrity, and adherence to the highest industry benchmarks.
IEA has over 45 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with industry associations globally and is a Bilateral Partner of the National Association of REALTORS (NAR) since 1999. This MOU facilitates cross-border co-operations in real estate transactions.
